Russia took the rotating presidency of the BRICS group in 2024. Yury Ushakov, Russian presidential foreign policy aide, has granted TASS an interview in which he previewed Moscow's priorities, prospects for BRICS development and expansion, and commented on the West's attempts to impede the association’s activities.

Over 50 representatives of non-profit organizations participated in the meeting, where they discussed the Russia's BRICS Chairship plan for 2024 and subject areas of activity of the working groups of the BRICS Civil Forum, scheduled to be held in Moscow in July 2024. 

The 22nd Spirit of Fire International Film Debut Festival will take place on 23–26 March in Khanty-Mansiysk as part of the programme of Russia’s BRICS Chairship in 2024.

The official presentation of the BRICS Russia Expert Council took place at HSE University on 16 February. The Council will provide informational, analyticalal and expert support for the Russia’s BRICS Chairship in 2024.

BRICS Senior Energy Officials held a meeting at the Energy of Life pavilion at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow on 26–27 February 2024, the first BRICS energy dialogue event of the year, with participation of the new member countries. 

The BRICS ‘Financing Sustainable Development’ Public Seminar, organized by the Bank of Russia, was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 27 February. First Deputy Head of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyukhin and First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin opened the seminar plenary session.
