BRICS Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors are to meet in Sao Paulo

BRICS Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors will meet on 27 February 2024 in Sao Paulo on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial meeting. This will mark the first in-person meeting of BRICS financial officials attended by representatives of countries that became full BRICS members on 1 January 2024.
Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov will speak about the priorities of Russia’s Chairship of the financial track and present the flagship initiative to improve the international monetary and financial system.
The meeting agenda includes discussion of the following issues:
- Prospects for the development of the world economy and BRICS economies
- Instruments for the mixed financing of infrastructure projects
- Key issues concerning customs and tax cooperation
- The launch of the BRICS Think Tank Network for Finance
- Ways to strengthen cooperation between the stock exchanges of BRICS countries and expand cooperation in matters concerning insurance and reinsurance as part of the BRICS Business Council
- Means to improve the functional mechanism of the BRICS Contingent Reserve Arrangement and the release of the next Economic Bulletin dedicated to the state of BRICS economies given the current high interest rates
- Collaboration in the payment sector
- Information security in the financial sector
- Use of financial technologies
