Nizhny Novgorod to host BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting

On 10–11 June 2024, Nizhny Novgorod will host a meeting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers.

During the meeting, they will exchange opinions on global agenda issues in the context of joint efforts to strengthen true multilateralism in international relations. The Ministers will discuss urgent regional matters, collaboration of BRICS countries in the group and on other platforms.

The prospects for multidimensional cooperation during the year of the Russia's BRICS Chairship on three main pillars: politics and security, economics and finance, humanitarian connections will also be considered.

Particular attention will be focused on fulfilling the instructions issued by the heads of states and set out in the declaration of the BRICS Johannesburg Summit (August 2023) to develop the modalities of the new ‘partner country’ category as part of the preparations for the summit in Kazan in October.

The Foreign Ministers Meeting will feature an extended session with the participation of Foreign ministers from the states representing regional interaction formats, including the SCO, ASEAN, the Indian Ocean Rim Association, the African Union, the League of Arab States, and others. The meeting participants will thoroughly explore key aspects of shaping a fairer international order, along with the role of the Global South and Global East nations in this process. The primary objective is a collective effort to address common challenges, aiming to guarantee equal security, sustainable development, and sustained economic growth in the long term.
