BRICS Young Scientists Forum Kicks Off at Sirius
The 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum and the 7th BRICS Young Innovator Prize are being held at the Sirius Federal Territory from 25 to 29 November 2024. Approximately 180 talented researchers and representatives of the BRICS youth scientific community are to participate.
During the Forum’s opening ceremony Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov welcomed participants, urging the young scientists to work together on joint research projects as a part of BRICS and emphasizing the importance of cooperation within BRICS and its huge economic and scientific potential.
Also taking place on the first day of the Forum was the opening scientific lecture ‘What Can We Learn from Ancient Genomes?’ by Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, CSO of the ‘Fundamentals of Biotechnology’ Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University Professor Egor Prokhorchuk.
The BRICS Young Scientists Forum programme has been designed around four major topics: artificial intelligence (AI), digital humanities, environmental and climate technologies, and nature-like and convergent technologies as drivers of a more sustainable future.
The Forum’s visionary track welcomed Russian market leaders in science, technology, and innovation, who spoke about their take on the future and the development of technology. CEO of Sibur Innovations Ilnaz Zaripov, Head of Nornickel's Palladium Technology Centre Dmitry Izotov, and EFKO Innovation Director Rostislav Kovalevsky spoke to the participants and fielded questions.
The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS chairship.
