BRICS Universe International Photo Exhibition

The BRICS Universe project is a unique series of expo events featuring 40 photographs of UNESCO creative cities from within BRICS taken from the ground and the International Space Station by Heroes of the Russian Federation and Cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Ivan Vagner.

The first of the ten exhibitions kicked off on 1 February at the Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow before continuing its journey through nine UNESCO Creative Cities: St Petersburg, Rio de Janeiro, Kargopol, Beijing, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Mumbai, Durban, and Kazan. The project will continue until the end of October 2024.

The exhibition opened in Ulyanovsk on 25 July with a meeting with Sergey Kud-Sverchkov: cosmonaut pilot, Hero and 124th cosmonaut of the Russian Federation, laureate of the Yuri Gagarin Medal and the Badge of St. Sergius of Radonezh, and author of the book What Yuri Gagarin Could Teach Me.

The exhibition opened in Mumbai (India) at the National Centre for the Performing Arts on 11 September. In addition to the exhibition itself, the opening ceremony included the screening of a film about the achievements of modern Russian cosmonautics and an autograph session with Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.

The exhibition has collected images of UNESCO creative cities in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa taken from Earth and space. 48 Russian photographers took part in the project with 41 photographers from all over the globe.

The BRICS Universe project has been organized by the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium, the ‘Russia - BRICS’ Project Office for International Youth Cooperation, and the Creative Industries Foundation of the Ulyanovsk Region with the support of the the Roscosmos State Corporation, Rosmolodezh, and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.

The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS chairship.
