Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Energy

Moscow hosted the 9th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting on 26 September during the annual Russian Energy Week International Forum.

During the meeting, Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev cited statistics demonstrating the association’s huge shares in the global production and consumption of coal, natural gas, and oil. He said climate goals and tasks should not hinder the economic development of countries and that each state should focus on their own national priorities when choosing the path of their energy transition. At the meeting, the participants approved a communiqué that sets out the main principles of the energy transition.
