Conference and film screenings ‘The Special Language of BRICS National Cinema’ at the 22nd Spirit of Fire International Film Debut Festival

The 22nd Spirit of Fire International Debut Film Festival took place in Khanty-Mansiysk on 23–26 March as part of the plan of events for Russia’s BRICS Chairship.

Business programme events were united by the common theme of ‘The Special Language of BRICS National Cinematography’. The plenary session, ‘Connecting Bridges. Intercultural Dialogue and New BRICS+ Partnerships’ and a special Russia-Iran Film Dialogue were also held. Industry leaders discussed the unique development of the film industry within BRICS, issues surrounding joint film production, the promotion of content, the practice of mutual film screenings, the creation of professional staff exchange programs, problems facing national film distribution, and measures that can be taken to preserve heritage and national identity.

Educational programme sessions were practical in application, with online masterclasses garnering more than one million views.

The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS Chairship.
