The first BRICS International Forum on Nuclear Medicine was held in St. Petersburg on 20–21 June.
The Forum programme included 16 expert sessions that were attended by more than 250 people. The participants discussed proposals and recommendations for effective cooperation to improve the quality of life and reduce the mortality of patients with oncological and non-oncological diseases. In particular, they discussed issues related to the development and production of effective radiopharmaceuticals used for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases in oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, and psychiatry.
The event included discussions of some of the specifics of the production and regulation of radiopharmaceuticals, process of expert inspections and state registration in BRICS countries, participation in international multicentre clinical trials, and opportunities for the harmonization of regulatory requirements and the recognition of clinical trial results.
